Can You Get Smarter?

Can you get smarter? - Yes, you can.

Wouldn't it be useful to be able to quote famous speeches at will or to reach into the vast chasm's of your mind and pull out facts and statistics?

It Is Possible?

After high school and university, we don't put our mind under such intense scrutiny and when this happens we lose intellectual power.

The real key is Work. Yes work, it's hardly glamorous and yet it's the mainstay of a sharp mind. You need to constantly give your mind the work it needs to stay "in shape".

Just like a retired body builder loses muscle mass after he gives up the competitive sport, a mind that stops being used will slowly retire.

What Can We Do?

Train your brain - Find healthy hobbies that require a little cerebral effort such as; word puzzles, sudoku I.Q test or anything that you can take an interest in.

What If We Don't?

Sorry, but it's use it or lose it!

Can We Improve?

Absolutely - If you strengthen the old gray matter then you can improve your mental performance above and beyond what you ever have achieved.

If you want it bad enough you can get smarter and keep the mind you have in sharp, snappy condition.

Radical Islam Threatened by Hollywood

Not long ago, I ran across an article on the web-an Associated Press release-that included the following passage (quoted verbatim):

Elsewhere in the northwest, a car bomb exploded close to a movie theater in the city of Peshawar [in Pakistan], killing at least six people and wounding 80 others, witnesses and police officer Saleem Khan said. Authorities blamed militants that have targeted theaters before in the region, believing them to be un-Islamic.
The article, entitled U.N. seeks $543 million for Pakistan refugees, was originally published at this link. It has since been updated by the Associated Press and no longer includes the passage cited above. The same news story, Bomb at Pakistan movie house kills 6, may also be found at this link, which also contains a similar passage as follows:
Militants have targeted movie theaters in the region in the past, charging that the businesses violate the tenets of Islam. Pakistan's Dawn News television channel reported that some theaters in the area have recently received threats from the Taliban, and that a few theater owners have shut down.
I find these passages to be particularly eye-opening as they clarify and put into sharp relief what radical Islam and, for that matter, any sort of religious extremism, represents to the world of culture and the arts-which naturally includes cinema. Religious extremists are invariably threatened by the arts because the arts represent freedom of expression and a representation of the truth. Religious extremists, like the Taliban and other repressive theocracies of the world, which base their very existence on propaganda and authoritarian dogma, invariably find themselves at odds with artists and artistes of all kinds.

Islamic radicalism has always been about repression-the suppression of individual freedoms and the violation of human rights. Thus, it comes as no surprise that the same fanatical theocracies that have no qualms about resorting to outright brutality to protect and further their social, political and religious agendas-a fact that the world is witnessing only too clearly with recent events in Iran-would feel threatened by culture, the arts and, most recently, by Western cinema, as evidenced by the recent bombings of movie theaters in Pakistan orchestrated by the Taliban.

From the earliest of times, Islamic culture has been characterized by a particularly intense hostility towards imagery or rendering. Some of this fanaticism may be justified by Islamic apologists as an attempt to assert the peculiar brand of monotheism that Muslims adhere to. And, of course, there is no denying the cultural achievements of the past, in such Islamic cultural centers as Beirut, Lebanon and Baghdad, Iraq. However, it cannot be denied that the radical Islamic movement of recent times, as epitomized by the likes of the Taliban and Al Quaeda, have displayed a pretty ruthless hostility towards all forms of artistic representation. And this destructiveness has been felt only too keenly in such Islamic cultural centers as Beirut and Baghdad, which are now wastelands thanks to decades of sectarian violence and brutality.

In March 2001, in fact, the Taliban ordered the destruction of two gigantic, ancient statues of the Buddha in the Bamiyan province of Afghanistan-an act of ruthless vandalism against art and culture-against historical artifacts of immense archaeological importance and cultural value-an act that many believe was an ominous precursor to the destruction, only six months following, of another pair of monoliths of immense socio-cultural importance, namely the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in the great Western cultural center of New York City. Arguably, the destruction of the World Trade Center on 9/11 is an undeniable expression of a deep-seated hostility for Western art, culture and, in this case, architecture, on the part of radical Islamic factions.

After all, if Islamic radicals like the Taliban, Al Quaeda and the Ahmadinejad regime in Iran have no problem with murdering thousands of innocent civilians (by sponsoring terrorism) or engaging in brutal misogynistic practices or controlling their populations with an iron fist through religious dogma, can it be at all surprising that they would find Western cinema threatening? One has to wonder: how many Hollywood movie stars would feel the least bit comfortable having any dealings with the likes of the Taliban or Al-Quaeda or the Iranian regime of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad? And, furthermore, how agreeable would Hollywood or Las Vegas, with their culture of over-the-top extravagance, be to the average Islamic radical?

I have no doubt that when the likes of Osama bin Laden condemn Western and, in particular, American culture as inimical to the tenets of radical Islam, what they have in mind are such cultural centers as Hollywood and Las Vegas-cities whose culture has always been about extravagance and excess of every kind. For a religion that enforces draconian dietary regulations and forbids the consumption of alcoholic beverages, Hollywood would have to be a profound anathema!

No wonder that the Taliban and other Islamic radicals feel compelled to bomb movie theaters in Peshawar, Pakistan!

Horizon Cybermedia, on the other hand, is about preserving art and culture in the face of brutal religious extremism. We are about championing the cause of freedom, especially in the venue of artistic self-expression. For us, the worst possible of all scenarios would be to be subjected to an Islamic theocracy that denies us our basic freedoms and human rights-freedoms such as those that enable us to produce art, culture and cinema!

How to Get Money From Google With Zero Investment!

To get money from Google, first you will need something to sell. The easiest way is to promote someone else's product and get a commission for the sales. That way, you don't have to ship products and you don't have to do customer service. We call this: Affiliate marketing.

So for instance, you join an affiliate program to promote an e-book: "how to stop your dog from barking". The product costs $45, and you earn $30 per sale. (This is realistic, a lot of programs like that exist).

Second, you will need to get a website.. Or wait, I said zero investment, right? ;)

I am just kidding, you don't even need a website. You can easily make a free page on sites like Blogger.com (they are owned by Google by the way), Hubpages.com, Squidoo.com, etc. There are a lot of those sites that look great, and you can make your page there for free. You call the site "dog-barking-solutions.blogspot.com" or something like that, and you provide a link to the sales page that you are promoting.

A very cool thing about those sites is: Google loves them. So most of the time, within one day your new, free money making webpage will show up in Google search results! You can just check by Googling for "dog barking solutions".

But unfortunately it won't be on first page yet.. And to really get money from Google, you need to rank on the first page of search results, so people will actually click on your link and buy the product you are promoting.

So we have the page set up, and it shows up in Google (somewhere on page 9 or so). Now how are we going to get it to that magical first page?

Simple. We rinse and repeat.

The most important factor for getting a good ranking in search results nowadays, is the number of links pointing to your webpage. So we just make more free pages like the first one.. Exept this time, we don't link to the sales page that we are promoting.. We link to the "dog-barking-solutions.blogspot.com" page that we made!

So every day you write an article in 30 minutes or an hour at most, make a new free webpage, and link to the first page you made. Usually within a few weeks, but within two months at most (depending on the level of competition) you will have the result you were after: Money from Google with zero investment!

Make Money Online - Money Grows on Trees, Right?

Remember the sentiment, "Money doesn't grow on trees," spouted by your parents when you were growing up? We thought they were so smart. They were right money does not grow on trees, at least no trees in my yard have bills hanging off.

Today, many people are searching. They are searching for an opportunity to help them get more money. In all reality, it's not really that they want lots of money, but they want financial security and freedom from mounting debts. It has been said that Americans today have more debt than ever and that most are just a few paychecks short of bankruptcy. You want to change all that right? That's why you are here.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying having a luxury vehicle isn't on your mind but you know that's not what will make you truly happy. You'll be happy to not live pay check to pay check. You'll be happy to know that you no longer have credit card debt and that your children will be able to go to college.

You'll love it if you can buy them what they want without having to break the bank. You'd be very happy to go in to work one day and say to your boss, "Goodbye, I make enough money at home that I don't need to work for you anymore." Wouldn't that be something? That can be your reality if you want it to be.

A banner headline that says, "Online Money-Making Machine, Makes You Money In Your Sleep," grabs your attention, but sounds too good to be true? It probably is. What you need to find is a solution that provides you with the freedom to make money online, work at your own pace, from your home, without lots of selling. You want to leverage your time and not work harder but work smarter. There are many people out in the internet marketing community raking in millions seemingly overnight. It can be done but it is not automatic!

If you are lazy and think that by clicking a few buttons, you can make thousands of dollars you will be sadly mistaken. While it is easier than ever to make money online using your computer, it will still take some dedication, discipline, time and yes, work.

So how do you know what opportunity is right? Only you can answer that for yourself. Each person must explore their own motivations, desires, abilities, commitment level, etc. You can make a couple of bucks a month to well over $100K in a month. The choices are up to you. I urge you to search online for opportunities and evaluate them carefully. Here are a few suggestions to aid you in making your decision:

1. Look at the website. Does it appear to be cheesy or have some good content helpful to you?

2. Is there a real person involved? Stock photos and people smiling holding lots of cash, fancy cars, or big houses are great, but you need to connect with the business owner and know there is someone real on the other end. If a phone number is provided, give them a call or ask them to call you.

3. Investigate the company being presented. Do they get a lot of complaints or a bad rating with the Better Business Bureau?

4. Do you believe in the product(s) you would be selling? If they are vague, on the website, ask some questions of the business owner. Some companies are flashy up front but don't have much to support them for long term, sustainability.

5. Do they require a large start up fee? Some fees can be expected because if it is free, there is likely more chance that the company just provides the basics and you have to learn everything on your own. They may have different levels of packages depending on your budget. That may be good if you have enough money you can start earning at the top but if you are strapped for cash you can still get your foot in the door and work your way up.

6. Do they have a system to help you? As mentioned above, a good support system (even if you have to pay for it) will save you some costly mistakes in the future. Training and help are a must.

Whatever business you decide upon, stick to it with determination and persistence and ultimately you can succeed. Working for yourself can provide freedom and making money online in the comfort of your own home is ideal!

Earn More Money Now

I have written this article to bring some outlook for Make More Money Now programs. As we all know that a large majority of internet money earning programs are scams. People waste hundreds of dollars to purchase these "systems" and in the end have nothing to show for it at all. Advertisements confirm people making millions of dollars, riding around in their yachts, and driving their fancy sports cars. If it was really this easy and you only had to work 2 hours a day, wouldn't everyone be a millionaire?

There are some genuine make more money now programs on the World Wide Web that can result in making extra income and possibly after some time can become a major source of income for anyone. But the way to success is to know how to tell the difference between scams and real programs. Below are some tips for which will help you to distinguish between scams and real programs,

a) Research well about the money making program.

b) Ask yourself that it is a product or program?

c) Use search engine like Google, Yahoo, ask. They can give you some solid info about the site you are interested in. Often times you will come across people who were looted by those scams sites.

d) Search for those companies who are selling a program that walks you through the course until you begin earning money. Look for support and guarantees provided by the site.

e) Closely avoid buying products such as CDs, e-Books, DVDs etc... These items are usually very high priced and come with no online/offline support.

f) Always look for high priced offers on "earn online programs". Sometimes working through the logistics of these programs comes with extra fees and one time set-up costs that is an additional $500+ dollars.

g) Again and again, review what you get on behalf of the money you are giving them for the program. If there are no negative points about this program plus a money-back guarantee, and the cost is not sky breaking, it will be a good option to buy it.

In conclusion, be aware of that nothing is that easy as it seems. The offers on internet may claim to start making plenty of money in just three weeks or so, but the reality is it takes much longer to set up an internet business and become profitable. Search for those programs that want low investments and start learning there. Also look for persons who have done the research and worked with the programs and that can guarantee for their effectiveness for online earning.

Follow the above tips to find real programs that will pay for your money and hard work. Use your senses and do proper research for each program you are going to buy because you are paying money for it. Make friends with persons who are earning from these make more money now programs for a while now. They will help you a great deal on your success to online earning.

I am a business administrator in a leading company of internet marketing.I have done M.B.A from Preston University and like writing articles at my leisure time. I like surfing on internet at my leisure hours and reading information about money making information on internet.

Paid Survey Guide

For every company, satisfaction of their customers is their primary concern. Each year they spend millions of dollars just to know what the consumers want and how they would be attracted towards the company. One method used by these companies is termed as "paid survey". These companies pay money to users who volunteer to take a survey of the company and then make comments on how to improve the company and its products and services.

This is a wonderful opportunity for internet users who want to make a little extra cash while sitting home and making comments about products and services of different companies. It is as easy as pie and all the user needs is an internet connection and a sane mind to judge and make comments about a company and its products and service. Users can make anywhere from a few bucks to as high as a $100 by taking these surveys.

Of course the user would not be offered $100 right on the first survey. The user would have to build reputation and value so that companies would pay high amounts to get the opinion. The best way to start is to search Google for paid surveys and browse through the links. The user must be cautious while searching for paid surveys as some of them can be scams and would thus result in waste of time and money.

There are surveys which require a membership on the website for a small fee which is a clear indication that such sites are scams. Another way to check the legitimacy of a website is to search for reviews or discussions about the site. Users generally share their experiences and are sure to reveal scam sites. It is necessary that one must not fall prey to sites which guarantee high profits and have offers which sound too good to be true.

There are also websites which maintain a list of companies which provide paid surveys. This list can be obtained by signing up with the website; however the user must be cautious and should check the legitimacy of the website before subscribing as these sites can be dangerous and user information provided for membership can fall in the wrong hands.

Link Building Made Easy

If you're new to website promotion then I'm sure you've read a couple of guides recently on how to do it. One of the first things you do is submit your site to as many directories as you can. It doesn't get you a whole lot of traffic but it does give you links that the search engines will crawl.

If you don't want to spend a lot of money to list your site then you are going to do a lot of reciprocal linking. That means you're going to end up with a long list of links that all go to directories. Not to mention that reciprocal linking carries less weight than one-way links when Google crawls them. But that's a discussion for a different time.

The point at hand is this: before you can submit your link to a directory you must already have their link in place. Here is the brilliance of it all. When they set up their directory, the forced link doesn't have to lead back to them. It could lead to Yahoo, Google, or theDumbestDomain.net! It really doesn't matter. As long as you have that link in place, you can submit your link to them free of charge.

With that said, let's think about how we can turn this into our advantage. If you had your own directory, you could force your business domain onto any site that wanted a free link from you. You could even set up a price list for featured and regular one-way links to make you a little extra money too! It's not as hard as you might think either.

To set up a directory you need 3 things..

  1. A domain name
  2. A hosting account with PHP, and MySQL
  3. and a Directory Script like PHP Weby
Installing the script takes about ten minutes and then setting it up takes about an hour. You have to set up your entire category structure and all of the individual settings. Once you're done, exchange links with every other directory you can find. Eventually you'll have plenty of links out there.

It's not completely automated however. You will still need to approve the links before they will show up in your directory. So for every link you get out there, you'll have to click a button. Sounds like a lot of hard work huh?

You can find the PHP Weby script at http://phpweby.com/software/dir

Submit your site for free to the Free Directory at http://compunerd.us.
